How do I get to the Living-i site in Irlam?

The Persimmon site is situated in Irlam. From the North and South exit at junction 21 of the M6 and take the A57 into Irlam. The site is situated off Cadishead Way on Rixtonleys Drive.

What will I see when I get there?

Lots! You’ll be able to see the homes first hand both on the inside and out as well as explore the visitors centre.  There is also an interactive room where you can see some of the products used within the houses on display.

When can I view the homes?

The visitors centre and exhibition houses are open to the public on Thursday to Monday 10.30am - 5.30pm.  Tours can be arranged by appointment, please call 0161 777 6900.

What does MMC stand for?

MMC stands for Modern Methods of Construction, which seeks to improve all areas of building houses, with focus on quality control, increasing speed of build and the skills shortages within the industry.

Will you be building these homes nationwide?

It is intended to use and develop some of the features in the project subject to availability and cost.

Where do you source the materials?

Our materials are sourced from a variety of sources.

Are they for sale?

Not at the moment. Please keep an eye on this website for further information.

How can I incorporate the technology into my existing home?

There are many ways in which you can incorporate some of the technology and features from the Persimmon's Living-i homes into your own. Underfloor heating and solar panels are widely available today and so too is the technology that allows you to remotely control your fixtures and fittings inside.

How long did it take you to build?

After many months of research, the development was started in late 2005 and was completed in April 2007.

Why were the homes built?

The project was undertaken to drive positive change through the industry and build the homes as a way of delivering more sustainable properties and communities in terms of the planning process and cost.
